Originally known as the Internationals, the club was formed in 1971 by a group which consisted primarily of soccer players intent on keeping fit during their off season. After showing some promise as semi-official members of the NTFL Reserves competition in the 1971/72 season; the club was admitted to senior ranks the following year and changed its name to North Darwin.
The Palmerston Magpies Football Club originated from the relocation of the North Darwin Football Club to Palmerston in the 1995/96 season. Initially known as the North Darwin/Palmerston Magpies, the club officially became the Palmerston Magpies Football Club in 1996/97.
North Darwin approached Keith Kemp to become the club’s patron and adopted the iconic black-and-white playing strip of the Collingwood Football Club, hoping the success of the famous Magpies would inspire a strong future in the local competition.
In recent years, the club has continued to show great promise across all competing teams. Guided by passionate coaches, players and supporters, the Magpies are proudly building an exciting new era.
Behind the scenes, our dedicated volunteers remain the lifeblood of the club, generously giving their time and energy to keep the Magpies moving forward.
